Projects

Overview

Surprise Creek is interpreted to be hosted by the same prospective stratigraphy as the BA property, and hosts multiple occurrences of silver, gold and base metals.

Project Summary

Ownership Mountain Boy Minerals Ltd owns a 100 % interest in the Surprise claims, subject to milestone-based payments.
Size 7,466 hectares
Location 32 kilometres northeast of Stewartlocated in the “Golden Triangle” area within the Skeena Mining Division of British Columbia.
Infrastructure 3 kilometres north of highway 37A and the Stewart high-voltage transmission line; 12 kilometre 4×4 road to the southeast corner of the property from highway 37A.

Prior Work

The first recorded work was in 1989 when The SURP claims were acquired by Teuton Resources. Teuton conducted reconnaissance prospecting, geological mapping and soil, stream sediment silt and rock sampling between 1990 and 1996.

From 2003 to 2007,Pinnacle Mines held several exploration campaigns that included the collection of over 600 rock samples from outcrop and float. The work defined multiple areas that hosted polymetallic mineralization with assays up to 13.02 grams per tonne gold, 3,076.8 grams per tonne silver, 8.67% copper, 9.1% lead and 7.61% per cent zinc.  In 2006, Pinnacle focused on the west part of the property where they mapped a large zone of intense pervasive K-feldspar alteration. In 2007, four holes were drilled on the property, totaling 1995 metres. The drilling intersected some zones of mineralization, the best being as follows;

  • 52 metres of 84.2 grams per tonne silver, 0.36% copper, 0.07% lead and 0.04% zinc
  • 59 metres of 45.9 grams per tonne silver, 0.095% copper, 0.14% lead and 0.24% zinc
  • 07 metres of 75.7 grams per tonne silver, 0.069% copper, 1.09% lead and 0.22% zinc.

In 2010, Great Bear Resources contracted Geotech to conduct a helicopter-borne versatile time domain electromagnetic (VTEM) and aeromagnetic geophysical survey over the property. A prospecting, geological mapping and sampling program was also conducted resulting in the discovery of the Ataman zone which at the time was referred to as the Rumble zone. Assays of up to 68.5 grams per tonne silver, 3.85% lead and 2.28% zinc were returned from the Ataman zone.

Mountain Boy Minerals conducted exploration programs in 2016 and 2017. In 2016, work was focused on the Ataman Zone.  A total of 218 rock samples were collected. The same year, Mountain Boy drilled 2 holes targeting the lower part of Ataman zone. Hole SC16-2 returned 0.12 grams per tonne gold, 28.0 grams per tonne silver, 1.21% zinc, 0.03% lead, 0.31% copper.

In 2017, a total of 115 rock samples were collected. Of those, 24 samples were taken by a team of climbers from the top part of a prominent sericite-quartz-pyrite zone situated on the lower Ataman Zone. The remaining 91 samples were collected from other areas of the property. The 2017 drilling program consisted of two diamond drill holes totaling 345 metres. The holes were drilled from the same pad used for the 2016 drilling. Hole SC17-03 intercepted 26.05 metres averaging 22.34 grams per tonne silver, 0.36% copper, 0.03% lead, 1.03% zinc and 41.0% barite.

Further Work

  • Interpretation of the 2010 airborne VTEM geophysical data.
  • Lidar of the eastern portion of the property.
  • Continue mapping and prospecting of the ore equivalent horizon, felsic volcanic and clastic rocks of the Mount Dilworth Formation.
  • Investigation of pathfinder elements and element ratios for potential vectors towards further mineralization.
  • Drill targets delineated by previous mapping and drilling, as well as any new targets identified by further exploration.
  • SWIR analysis of select core and rock samples.
  • Fossil collection for geochronological analysis.
  • U-Pb geochronology on felsic volcanic in Ataman Zone.
  • Lead isotope geochronology on galena from the Ataman Zone.
